Upper Cervical Chiropractic

Upper cervical chiropractic is a specific chiropractic technique which focuses on the top two bones in the neck: the atlas and axis, or C1 and C2. The misalignment of the upper neck can cause a myriad of symptoms for the patient. When aligned properly, your body has the ability to heal itself. If you have been to a chiropractor previously, and you find that the same areas of the spine are being adjusted every time, it is likely you have a misalignment of the upper cervical spine. These bones are the key to holding your adjustment; if they are out of alignment, it causes a cascade effect of misalignment down the rest of the spine.

Dr. Shideler is an expert in multiple upper cervical chiropractic techniques, and will determine which technique will best suit your case based on your misalignment. As always in our office, adjustments are gentle, specific, and scientific.

QSM3 Procedures

Quantum Spinal Mechanics, or QSM3, is the most progressive of the upper cervical techniques. It is the only upper cervical technique that takes into account the posture of the entire body, relating it to gravity. The goal of QSM3 procedures is to restore optimal three-dimensional balance of not just the upper cervical spine, but the entire body.

Atlas Orthogonal & Grostic Procedures

The Atlas Orthogonal Procedure uses an instrument to gently re-align the upper cervical spine. This method delivers a percussion wave which re-positions the atlas vertebra accurately without pain or pressure. This treatment is non-invasive and uses approximately 6 pounds of force. The patient usually feels nothing during the adjustment, but the results are often immediate and dramatic.

Grostic is the original orthogonal technique, and the technique from which Atlas Orthogonal Procedures was developed. A Grostic adjustment is similar to an Atlas Orthogonal adjustment, but is done by hand.

OTZ Methods

OTZ Health Methods use specific upper cervical analysis to determine if subluxation is present, and precision adjusting methods to re-align the spine properly, allowing for better health and healing in the body. This method has been revolutionary in those suffering with frozen shoulder or occipital neuralgia.
